What is AlammoFM?
AlammoFM is a YouTube channel dedicated to preserving and sharing the unique soundtracks from Japanese retro computers. Machines like the NEC PC-9801, Sharp X68000, and FM Towns that defined gaming in Japan during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The Sound of FM Synthesis
These computers used Yamaha FM synthesis chips: the YM2608 (OPNA), YM2151 (OPM), and others to create music that sits somewhere between chiptune and orchestral. The sound is warm, metallic, and unlike anything from Western gaming of the same era.
The channel features:

Why Preservation Matters
Most of these soundtracks were never officially released. The games themselves were often Japan-exclusive, pressed on floppy disks that are now degrading in closets across the country. Without active preservation, entire libraries of brilliant compositions by anonymous sound designers will simply vanish.
